So I’ve finally picked up Franzen’s Freedom and the fear that’s stopped me picking it up in the first place is already seeping into my reading. Every time I approach a paragraph I’m plagued by the little voices in my head that are oh so loyal (still) to The Corrections. What if it overshadows the ingenuity of The Corrections? What if it puts me off Franzen altogether? What if it’s just not good?
I think it’s time I put the literary elite voices in my head to rest and just got on with reading – don’t you? I’ll let you know how I go. In the meantime, feel free to share any Franzen foughts!
Happy reading x
